Regina Joseph and the BBBP

About Regina Joseph

My busy life was the practical incentive for the creation of the BBBP. In addition to being a writer, I'm also a media and brand developer, a trend forecaster and a well-being consultant with offices in Amsterdam and New York City. In addition, I'm the founder of Super Pilates, a studio located in Manhattan.

I've led quite a few lives, with experience in fields ranging from music and the arts, media and technology, and of course, health and fitness.

Before my transition into a health and fitness career in 2002, I was an established journalist and creative director—a pioneer of the digital media frontier. Many know me for the creation of Blender, which launched to critical acclaim and had the distinction of being the world’s first magazine brand delivered entirely digitally on CD-ROM disc. Blender showcased the earliest digital editorial formats (which are only now, almost 15 years after I developed them, starting to be adopted as basic multimedia structures), as well as the first forms of digital advertising. Since Blender, my work in the areas of pop culture journalism and digital development has been noted for being on the bleeding edge of innovative media.

During the '90s, on my own and through my software development arm, Engine.RDA, I developed websites, enhanced CDs and CD-ROMs and commercial trailers for clients such as Acclaim Entertainment, America Online, Atlantic Records, Microsoft, Maverick Records, and Panasonic, among many others. I've also spent many years living and working abroad. In Europe, I served as a media and business development executive for companies as diverse as Sony Music and United Pan-Europe Communications (UPC), the largest cable/broadband company in Europe.

My journalism work has covered subjects ranging from entertainment, media, technology and trends, and has appeared in such publications as AdWeek, Forbes and The New York Times, among others. I currently serve as a Contributing Editor for Pilates Style Magazine, and continue to write freelance for various outlets.

But all the jet-setting and grueling deadlines I often set for myself during my career began to wreak havoc on my body. By 2001, after so many years of constant, sometimes daily air travel, start-up demands, marathons of late-night working sessions and project stress, my body was ready to quit. My doctor warned me about making some drastic changes after a diagnosis of adrenal fatigue, and I knew that something had to give.

I decided to quit corporate life and spend a couple of years doing nothing other than getting my health back and thinking about what I wanted to do next. I was out-of-shape, exhausted, listless and suffering a variety of unnerving symptoms, including back pain, gut problems and more. In an attempt to figure out what the next phase of my life would look like, I realized that global trends required increasing sophistication and knowledge of health and fitness issues. I resolved to certify as an instructor in Pilates, a discipline that already was giving me relief from debilitating lower-back spasms. I took classes in nutrition, bio-mechanics, anatomy, kinesiology and more, in an effort to shape my next move.

During this time, a trip to Brazil to see relatives and friends provided the spark of inspiration that led to the creation of the BBBP. While there, I could see that people's attitudes towards their bodies, their food, and their lives were extremely different. An inherent embrace of pragmatism, joie de vivre, and sexiness, in spite of very difficult living conditions, were the hallmarks of the Brazilian experience. I began to envision how this sensibility could be translated for people outside of Brazil.

Since I was also changing what I ate, I took a close look at the Brazilian food I was so used to eating and cooking and saw how it could be refined to create a tasty and nutritious program that emphasized home cooking, quick and easy-to-prepare meals that anyone could make.

Upon my return, I started drafting the proposal for the Brazilian Bikini Body Program, which brings us to this point today.

I believe I serve as a good example of how anyone can change their lives, and change it drastically. I went from a high-flying corporate career that laid waste to my physical health, to a stripped-down lifestyle that has me looking and feeling better and younger.

That same change is within your grasp, and I encourage to give it a try for at least 30 days. Click here and find out how you can set off on your own journey of change. Interested in more thoughts and ideas? Check out my blog here.
